Independent Electoral Committee (IEC)

The IEC is a standing body within Duk County Youth Association (DCYA), Juba. As a community-based organisation, DCYA is built on membership. Young people shape the association together, and leadership must reflect their choices.

Members take part in a structured election process to select their leaders. The IEC plans the timetable, qualifies candidates against agreed rules, supervises voting, and declares outcomes in a transparent manner.

Our commitment is that the IEC remains fair and transparent. This is achieved through clear criteria, open communication with members, and respect for the result as the legitimate voice of the association.

What the IEC safeguards

  • Democracy

One member, one voice. Leadership flows from elections, not appointments alone.

  • Fairness

Rules apply equally. Disputes have a pathway so no one is shut out.

  • Transparency

Members know how, when, and where to vote. Results are shared clearly.
